Lynda Cole
In my art, beauty and mood are the intention rather than social statement and narrative. The overall purpose of my encaustic work is to instill quiet motion.
Inherent in some of my work is repeating pattern. My background in botany and the textile arts influences the imagery I explore. To quote designer Rob Forbes, "Patterns may be the DNA of design." Just as molecules combine and recombine to create infinite possibilities, in this work I use spheres and lines to create limitless, visual configurations. The resulting bodies can be as diverse as a slinky and a universe.
