Linda LeMar
For the past three years I have been exploring fired paper clay to express my ideas. I like working in this medium because of its strength, lightness, and paper-like qualities.
Working on the wall creates what I call 3 dimensional drawings. This gives me the freedom to create my own setting for the objects that are in my "drawings". I experiment with glazes that add texture and color found in the natural world where most of my inspirations come from. I also work with the figure. Many of these figures are expressions of emotion. I see my work as visual poetry that can be interpreted by the viewers own set of experiences. I enjoy working with the physical qualities of the material and the physical gesture while uncovering beauty and meaning. I hope the time spent looking at each work provides inspiration.
